Tally License Server / Gateway Server Not Running — Fix
TallyPrime अचानक Educational Mode में खुले, error 412 आए, या “Unable to access the configured Tally Gateway Server” जैसा message दिखे — इसका मतलब है license चलाने वाली Tally Gateway Server service बंद है या पहुँच से बाहर है। ज़्यादातर मामलों में service restart और firewall exception से काम बन जाता है।
TallyPrime में पुराना “Tally License Server” अब Tally Gateway Server कहलाता है। Message की wording release के हिसाब से थोड़ी बदल सकती है।

Fix steps — सुरक्षित क्रम में
- पहले backup लें: LAN users को TallyPrime save करके बंद करवाएँ और data folder की copy रखें।
- Service restart: License वाले computer पर Win+R → services.msc → Tally Gateway Server → right-click → Restart। अब TallyPrime में F1 (Help) → Settings → License → Manage License पर license status देखें।
- Duplicate service: दो Gateway services हों तो जो use में नहीं है उसे Properties → Stop → Startup type: Disabled → Apply। दो services आपस में टकराकर Tally को slow या license-less कर देती हैं।
- Firewall: Settings → Privacy & Security → Windows Security → Firewall & network protection → Allow an app through firewall → TallyPrime और TallyPrime Gateway Server दोनों allow करें। Third-party antivirus में भी tally.exe और tallygatewayserver.exe का exception दें।
- Permission: F1 → About → Application Path से installation folder खोलें, वहाँ की tally.dmp और Gatewayserver.dmp हटाएँ। फिर tallygatewayserver.exe → Properties → Security → Advanced में अपने user को Full control दें।
- Upgrade पर service न रुके: services.msc या Task Manager से पुरानी Gateway service manually Stop करें, फिर setup दोबारा चलाएँ।
- फिर भी license न मिले: Manage License से Refresh करें; ज़रूरत हो तो license Reactivate करें।
Expert को कब बुलाएँ?
Service restart होते ही फिर बंद हो जाए, Gateway service को command line से uninstall करके दोबारा लगाना पड़े, या Gold license पर कई clients एक साथ Educational Mode में जाएँ — ऐसे में trial-and-error से license configuration बिगड़ सकता है।
